Hi! My name is Lay Sopheak, but you can call me “Mr. Lay”. I am 25 years old. I am an English speaking tour guide in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. I’d love to tell you a little bit about my background, interests, achievement and my goals.
I was borne in a poor family at the rural area called Kampongspue province located in the southeast of Cambodia. I have two brothers and 2 sisters and I am the youngest child. I spent almost 20 years of my life with a local. When I was 6 years old, I attended in a local primarily school. Unfortunately, my dad was passed away when I was 10 years old. However, I was supported by an organization called WOMEN SERVICES ORGANIZATION (WOSO) due my family couldn’t raise me. At there, I learned English so far, and I hoped it would bring me a bright in the future. So far, when I grew up, I came to the Phnom Penh city to find a job and continued my life in a university. I found a job in a hotel industry and it was my first job in Phnom Penh. I met a lot of people from everywhere, and I used English to communicate with them. I felt I do want to work for tourism. Hence, I decided to applied for a tour guide in Phnom Penh. As the result, I become an English speaking tour guide by completed many requirements from the Ministry of Tourism in 2015.
2015: I have worked as a tour guide with a passion to get travelers of the beaten track to uncluttered areas of Phnom Penh and somewhere else in Cambodia. I work for many people who travel to my country. I would love to share all the hidden of Cambodia including history, culture, customs, traditional, religions, make fund, and all the beautiful places of its through my experiences.
2016: I found the official registered company name as RPTT Royal Phnom Penh Tours Co., Ltd where main office in Phnom Penh. We are one of the best leading agencies in Kingdom of Cambodia.
2018- present: I have founded a local tour on TripAdvisor named “Royal Phnom Penh Tours”. Because of my passionate in tourism, I want to give the travelers with the unforgettable memories, and experiences from Cambodia. I give very valued money for all tours and activities to all the travelers. Hence, I have met a lot of people from everywhere.
2020: I graduated English for Education bachelor degree at Phnom Penh International University (PPIU). And I had completed many achievements through studying such as being an outstanding student, volunteer student by joining some community services, volunteer teacher and interpreter for volunteer foreign teachers at PSE-Pour un Sourire d’Engant-Cambodia Organization. Hence, I have many experiences in education and tourism fields.
Today, I have operated tours and activities to hundreds of travelers with some partnering agencies from oversea. Moreover, I have many local partners such as tour guides, drivers, and so on from different places. We work together to reach our goals. we provide our high services with our very competitive pricing.
